Major Academic Fraud Case Uncovered
An anesthesiologist in Springfield, MA, has admitted that 21 journal articles he published between 1996 and 2008 were based on fabricated data. Many others appear to be questionable. Dr. Scott Reuben a well-known and prolific researcher whose work was funded by Pfizer during some of those years, never conducted the clinical trials on which the articles reported. The trials, which were published mainly in anesthesiology journals and are being withdrawn, related to management of postoperative pain.
